Give Your Hair the Protection it Deserves

Give Your Hair the Protection it Deserves

I’ll admit it. For a while I used little to no product on my hair. Since blogging and working in beauty PR, I’ve come to learn that our hair is much like our skin. The more moisture and vitamins we give it, the more it becomes hydrated and strong.

Now knowing this, I try to use products that help my hair be the healthiest it can.  Today, I’m writing to let you know of a new brand that I discovered that is aiding me in having strong/healthy hair – ZOTOS Professional 180Pro line. The entire line helps to protect my hair from all of the heat I put on it daily (c’mon we all know I don’t just #WakeUpLikeThis).

I’ve included some information on my favorite products from the line below. Ps. all of the products are safe for you color-treated gals like me!

Polish Protector Leave in Styling Cream: This must-have instantly conditions detangles and radically repairs heat-damaged hair. Plus, it helps lock out heat to help prevent damage before it even starts.

Heath Rescue Conditioner: This life-savor helps lock out heat to help prevent damage before it starts. It deeply conditions and radically repairs heat-damaged hair.

Heat Rescue Shampoo: Like the conditioner, the shampoo also helps lock out heat to help prevent damage before it starts. It gently cleanses and radically repairs heat-damaged hair.

Flat Iron Barrier Thermal Protection Spray: This protection spray surrounds strands to radically repair heat-damaged hair. All you have to do is spritz it onto clean, damp or dry hair before any exposure to heat styling, especially flat ironing.

I can’t wait for you to check them out and let me know what you think! Cheers to healthy hair.

Beauty Report: Skin Laundry Laser & Light Facial

Beauty Report: Skin Laundry Laser & Light Facial

I need to be honest here…. I’m really inconsistent when it comes to using products or keeping good tabs on my skin. Luckily for me, I think i’m so lax because I’ve never had problem-skin. But now that I’m getting “older” (UGH!), I’ve noticed a change in my skin for sure and with that, I want to find a routine that works for me. No one wants damn wrinkles and I’m definitely not getting Botox anytime soon. My solve? Skin Laundry! (Ps. Before you read on, I want to share that you can get your first time free).

My coworkers RAVE about Skin Laundry, telling me how they’ve seen such excellent results in only a month or so. I decided to give it a go and had the BEST first time experience ever. I was a little nervous because they use a “laser and light” method and as I’m sure you know, laser’s are known to hurt. However, I have to say that pain was really mild and more so tickled than it did hurt.

What I was most impressed with was how the staff and technicians were so qualified and informative. Since I work in beauty PR full time, I’m used to working with skin scientists and I have to say, my experience was nothing but a positive one. The treatment itself only took about 10-15 minutes and immediately following my skin had the “Skin Laundry Glow.” It still does!

My biggest problem areas are my nose and chin, where I tend to get blackheads and I’ve noticed that tons of them have disappeared (yay!). With one service under my belt, I’m excited for 5 more. Stay tuned, I’ll be doing a little “before and after” post. In the meantime, check them out here to find a location near you!

Where to Get the Best Blowout in NYC

Where to Get the Best Blowout in NYC

I know you all know how much I love a good blowout. Truth is, I can actually do my hair pretty well on my own, but something about getting a blowout is just so magical to me. From the way it makes my hair feel, to the pure pleasure of getting pampered, to the long-lasting style – I love it all!

Obviously there are so many salons in the city, but I feel like I’ve really hit a lot of the “major” ones. And trust me, not every blowout is a good one. Since I have such curly hair naturally, I need someone that takes the time on each and every section (small sections is the best). I’ve had some frizzy blowouts in my day. I don’t want you to have to worry about combing through salons to find the best blowout, so I’ve listed my faves below.

Marie Lou & D
Location:
SoHo
Price: $45-$65 depending on stylist level
My go-to stylist at MLD is Tre (he’s my boy), but every single stylist is amazing. I’ve said this before in another post, but I’m obsessed with the ambiance of the salon. The wash station chairs give you a massage! You can’t beat that.

Dream Dry
Location:
Various around the city
Price: $50
This place has my ideal ambiance. I love that hairstyling experience doesn’t just end with a blow dryer. At Dream Dry, if you want “beach waves” or something other than a typical blowout, the stylists heat up a curling iron and give you exactly the look you’re trying to achieve.

Glam & Go
Location: Various around the city
Price: $45 for a blowout, but monthly packages are available
I’m obsessed with Glam & Go because all of the stylists are highly trained. I’ve never had a bad experience. I love how they offer blowouts or quick styles (for a smaller fee), so if you want a braid or up-do vs. blowout, you can get it done easily!

Dry Bar
Location:
Various around the city
Price:
$45
The best part? The smell of the Dry Bar products! Dry Bar just has this signature aesthetic and scent that is addicting. The ambiance is wonderful and like some of the other places I mentioned, you can choose from a book of looks to pick exactly what you’re trying to achieve. The stylists will work with you to get exactly what you want.

Beauty Giveaway! DESSANGE Paris

Beauty Giveaway! DESSANGE Paris

It’s the holiday season and I’m in the mood to give stuff away!

One lucky gal or guy will win (via my Instragram – check it out for details) two amazing Dessange Paris products. Details below!

The products I’m giving away are from the Dessange Paris “California Blonde” Collection. You may look at me and think, you’re not a blonde? Yet, that doesn’t stop me from using blonde products because my hair is still colored (somewhat blonde) and is prone to getting brassy/orangey hues. This nourishing hair care system is designed to moisturize and help protect color-treated [blonde] hair (or in my case, “bronde” as my hair dresser likes to call my shade). As blonde is a fragile color, it can lose its luster, fading and weakening with time, so it is important to protect color. The special formula, with passionflower extracts, delivers infallible shine and luminosity for a radiant blonde color.

So if you’re like me and enjoy experimenting with new products, I highly recommend this line. It works wonders! Shop it below and/or enter to win via my Instagram!

My Makeup Must-Haves & Routine

My Makeup Must-Haves & Routine

It’s been a little since I’ve dished on my makeup tips, tricks and favorite products, so I decided it’s time to share some product updates with you! I’ve finally found a make-up routine and items that I’m obsessed with!

My routine has remained simple for the most part. My go-to look is tan, glowy skin with a nude lip and full lashes. I’m thinking I need to get a tutorial up to show you guys how I apply everything! In the meantime, I’ve linked to the products I can’t live without below and did my best to spell out my routine for you.

Face Makeup
First things first – I always start with my face makeup. I recently was re-introduced to Clinique’s moisturizing lotion after receiving it in a gift bag and I have to say that this classic favorite is popular for a reason. I love how it’s moisturizing, yet not too thick. I’ve been applying this under my makeup and love it.

For my under eyes, I’ve been applying NYX dark circle concealer, which has an orange tone to it that is supposed to cancel out dark tones. Following, I put a lighter skin-toned concealer over the same area to create a lighter, soft look. I’ve been loving Clarins.

After my under eyes are done, I move to the rest of my face. I’ve been using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Makeup Treatment stick, which is great because it’s really affordable and also an amazing product. I love how it’s really lightweight! I used this in the contour zones of my face and blend it together with a beauty sponge.

Once that’s done, I move to bronzer, which is also applied to the contour zones on my face. I’ve been loving Hoola by Benefit (another classic!) because it’s matte and the perfect shade of brown.

Lastly, I apply some blush and finish off my cheekbones with highlighter. I’ve been loving the 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift by Peter Thomas.

Eyes + Brows
I generally keep it simple with my eye and am not a huge fan of eye shadow, so what I’ll do it pat some of my highlighter under my brows and in the corner of my eyes for a glowy look.

If I’m attending an event or going out for the night, I generally apply false lashes with black glue and top my look off with a coat of IT Cosmentics Superhero Mascara. If I’m just going to work, I’ll opt for just the mascara.

For brows, I don’t really need too do much, but I do fill in one little bald spot (so weird right?!) that I have on my left brow and also even them out since they are slightly different shapes. I love the consistency of the Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Precise Shaping Pencil.

Lips
My all time favorite lip color is the NYX Plump It Up Lip Plumper in ‘Elizabeth.’ Seriously, I wear this in almost every picture you see of me.  That said, I do sometimes apply it with different variations of lipsticks and liners since it’s just a gloss.

Lately, I’ve been wearing Bare Minerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick along with the matching Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lip Liner.

Fragrance
You can’t forget fragrance! I’ve been obsessed with the Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Signorina Misteriosa’ Eau de Parfum.

Hope this helps! I’m thinking a tutorial may be best next time around.
