One trend I can’t get enough of this summer is chambray dresses. The one I’m pictured wearing above is from this small boutique in NYC, so I can’t link to it, but I’ve collected some of my favorites and similar styles for you to shop below!

PS: Yes, I realize my dress is a wrinkled mess (wah!) – it’s a downside of the thin material this dress is made of. Yet, I still love the bold blue color and lace-up detail.

Summer Trend: Rompers

Like many of you, I’m obsessed with wearing rompers during the warmer months. Like dresses, they’re so easy to throw on. You don’t need to struggle to put together a perfectly matched outfit. Instead, you slip on a romper and you’re ready to rock.

The one I’m wearing (picture above) is from last season, but I’ve linked so other favorites below! Happy shopping.

This may sound ridiculous, but it’s absolutely impossible for me to find dresses that fit correctly. My mom and sister had the chance to see my struggle first hand when we recently went dress shopping for a wedding together. Nearly everything I tried out just wasn’t laying right. Since I have a short waist and a large chest, dresses are always either snug in my bust or have too much fabric left over around my shoulders/neck area.

For this reason, I’ve always stuck to classic cuts like a signature wrap dress. Items that are cut low and tie around the waist have always worked best for me. That said, everyone knows DVF is the wrap dress queen, so I was thrilled to find this orange and white dress while recently shopping at Century 21 with my dad. I love a good bargain! I think I snagged it for $200 vs. the usual $350-$400 price tag.

Not only does this dress fit like a glove, it’s so comfortable and perfect for work, a girls night out or even a family party. Below, shop some of my favorite DVF summer wrap dress picks (PST I’ve linked to some styles that are on sale!) and the other items I’m photographed wearing. Happy shopping!

Dressing for Work During the Summer Heat

Dressing for Work During the Summer Heat

2 3 4

It’s heating up outside, which means its time to swap your winter sweater dresses for summery threads. Personally, I’ve always found it challenging to dress for work in the summer since most dresses tend to be strappy or too revealing for the workplace. Of course, It’s important to stay cool, but you don’t want to run the risk of looking inappropriate in the workplace.

Below, find my rule of thumb for dressing for work and staying prepared during the summer months:

  • If you could wear it to the beach, you shouldn’t wear it to the office
  • Do you have a favorite open-back sundress? Throw a blazer or cardigan over it to hide the revealing parts during work hours
  • Stick to loose, tunic-like dresses to keep things “easy breezy”
  • Swap your flipflops for flats
  • Do the “Raise Your Arms” test. If you throw your hands over your head and your butt pops out the bottom, it’s too short
  • If you bend over and your butt pops out, it’s still too short
  • Denim coats are your best friend this summer – layer them over anything strappy to make it appropriate
  • City hack – wear compression shorts under your dress on windy days and avoid walking over subway vents unless you want to flash random pedestrians (I’m not kidding, this happens)
  • Always carry blister cushions in your purse for when you’re breaking in new shoes (I’m obsessed with Compeed Blister Cushions)
  • Invest in a great strapless bra – you don’t want straps hanging out

Now that we’ve covered the bases, shop some of my work-appropriate picks and must-haves below!
