What’s in my Travel Tote?

What’s in my Travel Tote?

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and LIFEWTR. All opinions are mine alone. #ThirstInspiration #CollectiveBias

I don’t know about you guys, but when I travel, I always feel dehydrated and completely thrown off. With so many upcoming trips planned (London, Charleston, The Hamptons, Miami, Jamaica – to name a few), I want to make a vow to be prepared this time around. As such, I’m excited to partner with LIFEWTR, which is easily available at any 7-Eleven and has quickly become my new best friend.

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but water intake really does work wonders (just ask my trainer, he’s been making me consume so much). It restores my body, refreshes my mind, quenches my curiosity and even enables self-expression. All of this from water? Yup! Aside from having the coolest packaging, LIFEWTR is purified, pH-balanced water, with electrolytes for taste.

Enough about my obsession with water consumption – let’s get to the fun part. So you may be wondering, what exactly goes into my travel tote bag? I’ve listed my go-to items below for your enjoyment. Hopefully, you can use this as a little “pack list” for yourself before you hit the road for your next trip or grab a cab to the airport.

    • LIFEWTR: This is my #1 must-have. When I’m traveling to the airport, I love to drink a full water bottle during my commute. This way, once I’m on the plane, I’m already feeling hydrated. If I’m just heading somewhere via train/car, I’m still sure to pack a bottle in my travel tote. Either way, I love to arrive at my destination feeling nice and hydrated.
    • Headphones: If I forgot to pack my headphones, I literally want to rip my hair out. Traveling without headphones is the worst. I listen to music and get excited for my new adventure.
    • A Sleep Mask: I’m really sensitive to light and need to sleep in the pitch black, so if I have any hope of catching some Zzz’s, I need my sleep mask.
    • Magazines: Nothing screams travel time like a trashy weekly magazine. As if I don’t follow pop culture enough, sometimes I just need a little good ol’ paper copy to hold on to vs. looking at my phone.
    • A Snack: Clearly, I like to be prepared here. This means making sure I have a stash of healthy snacks in case I go hungry (the horror). I like to keep almonds in a plastic baggy because they’re easy, nutritious and filling.

Like me, I hope you make a vow to make water consumption a priority during your travels. As always, feel free to leave me any questions in the comments!

True Life: I’m Addicted to Podcasts and Here’s Why

True Life: I’m Addicted to Podcasts and Here’s Why

In recent months I started noticing that some of my favorite celebrities and reality stars began promoting their podcasts on social media. To me, the thought of a podcast always seemed boring. Why waste your timing listening to someone, when you can’t actually see them? TV was always the more appealing route to take, until I caved and finally decided to give in and see what the fuss was all about.

Within minutes of subscribing to a few of my favorites, I was hooked! Since I’m not a big “TV before bed” type of gal, I started quietly listening to podcasts while I drifted to sleep. Something about the soothing tone of someone talking really does the trick. Once I was accustomed to the “podcast life” (as I like to call it), I was ready to try something new. Finally, I started to up my game and go from just listening to celebrity interviews to listening to audio fiction podcasts, which is much more interesting to be completely honest.

My favorite is Jules & James, which is a just half hour podcast (perfect for a before-bed listen). The story is a narrative fiction between two artists whom are connected by fate when a “wrong number” situation introduces the two. After deciding to continue conversation, both Jules and James end up talking weekly about their lives, dreams for the future, the world around them and everything else that the comfort of speaking to a stranger allows you to reveal. I don’t want to give too much away, but Jules & James captures the charm of falling in love with the unknown.

Move over Rosé, it’s all about Frosé this Season!

Move over Rosé, it’s all about Frosé this Season!

I don’t know when “Rosé Season” officially begins, but for me, it starts the second the temperature outside hits 80. Considering the weather’s been beautiful this week, I want to formerly say happy drinking ya’ll!

At the risk of not sounding like an alcoholic, there’s just so many reasons I love rosé. It just reminds me of summer, friends and warmer times. While it’s perfect in its natural form, there’s a new and improved version that’s straight up next level. Enter, frosé. Yes, frozen-rosé.

If you want to be fancy, by all means make it yourself. See the tutorial below:

OR, if you’re like me and just want to cut to the chase and soak in the ambiance of a beautiful restaurant, you can enjoy frosé at various locations around New York City. Below, find my list of top places around NYC to sip on some frosé.

Bar Primi
I could be wrong for saying this, but I consider Bar Primi the originator of frosé. The hot spot was the first place that I started seeing this fruity and fun beverage pop up. Now, it’s hard to miss it while scrolling your Instagram feed during the summer months.

Extra Fancy
Frosé isn’t the only frozen beverage this gem serves. In fact, you can enjoy an assortment of delicious drinks, all while grabbing some good eats. How can you go wrong?

Toro
Generally known for it’s food, Toro is a NYC fav. However, don’t look past the frosé selection. No summertime meal is complete without the perfect paired beverage.

Yes way frozé 💁#sundayspecial

Gansevoort Park
This place is conveniently around the corner from where I live, hehe. Not only is the space beautiful, but there’s a rooftop bar! Soak in the sun and sip on some deliciousness.

Why are Millennials Obsessed with this Color?

Why are Millennials Obsessed with this Color?

You’ve seen it all over your Instagram feed. You’ve seen it walk down the red carpet at major award shows. You’ve seen it at your favorite cafés or matcha shops. Hell, you’ve even worn it. But the one thing you may not know is why “millennial pink,” as The New York Times is calling it, is the biggest thing right now.

The thought of bubble gum, or worse, neon pink used to make me literally cringe. For years and years I refused to wear such a thing. In fact, I threw out everything in my closet that even resembled the lovey-dovey color. Fast forward to 2017 and half of my wardrobe is shades of pink. In fact, my wardrobe has been this way since 2016. Usually I’m used to a “color of the year” sweeping in and making its mark, but something is different about this trend – it’s here to stay.

As such, some of the worlds most respected fashion bloggers like Marianna Hewitt revolve their Instagram feeds and websites around shades of blush and soft pink. Even brands like Glossier are choosing to launch campaigns designed around this very same theme.  The question of “why?” still remains.

According to The New York Times, they seem to think the answer is as simple as the fact that, “the color keeps on selling product.” Not only that, but in this social-media obsessed world we live in, the color “happens to be both flattering and generally pleasing to the eye,” according to Editor Lauren Schwartzberg. I couldn’t agree more.

We’re also in an interesting moment of time where both women and men aren’t afraid to break outside of cultural norms by wearing a color that has been perceived as gender-specific for years. So as spring continues and summer nears, don’t be surprised if you see this trend on everyone and everywhere.

For those of you that haven’t hopped on the bandwagon just yet (or for those of you that are so obsessed that you just want MORE), you can shop some of my favorite “millennial pink” items below, plus the look that I’m wearing in the pictured photos. Enjoy!

My Look
As you can see, for this look, it’s all about the “millennial pink” accessories, rather than a full-pink outfit. From my earrings to my heels to my purse to the flowers, all of my accessories bring this trend to life.

Home Decor
From fluffy pillows to lush blankets and beautiful candles, you can’t go wrong. Below, show some of my all time favorite millennial pink decor items. Perfect for a small apartment or girly makeup room.

Women’s Fashion
I’ve pulled together some looks ranging from comfy t-shirts to fun dresses that all embody the essence of blush pink. Click around below to shop your favorite styles.

Men’s Fashion
A man in pink is a confident man. There’s no better time than the spring/summer to wear vibrant and bright colors, especially on items like swim trunks or collard shirts.

How I Learned to Motivate Myself and be Patient

How I Learned to Motivate Myself and be Patient

This past month, I found myself feeling a little blah and unmotivated when it came to running and maintaining Publyssity.com and @Publyssity on Instagram. Not only was I iffy about the content I was producing, but I was feeling like my following was at a standstill.

Since I have a full time job, I work on my blog during off hours, which means I’m either up at 6:30am shooting with my photographer or I’m staying up late at night to finish up articles and to outreach brands. Due to this, I found myself choosing to take the convenient route like shooting outside my apartment before work vs. seeking out a destination around the city with character and culture. I was going through the motions of picking out outfits, shooting them and posting them, but I wasn’t taking my time to actually style them to the best of my ability.

I’m not sure what changed, but something in me clicked while I was browsing my feed. I started to feel like I could do better because I can. Just like that, a light bulb went off in my head and I started brainstorming ways I can fulfil my vision. As such, I’ve decided to get back to blogging more vs. just focusing on Instagram content. I’m also going to seek out new areas to shoot at (first on my wish list is Dumbo). Plus, I’m going to spend more time styling and curating outfits. I’m also going to try something new – more video content! And lastly, I’m going to learn to be patient.

Instead of relishing in the success of my following thus far, I often find myself wanting more, more, more. For bloggers and social influencers, I think it’s really common and easy to feel this way. We often see the success of others and think, “Why is it taking me so long to hit my next milestone?” However, I need to learn to sit back and trust the process. Many successful bloggers I know have been at it for years and years, so I need to realize that it doesn’t just happen overnight.

So please continue to watch as I evolve and learn. After all, we’re all in this together and I couldn’t do it without all of you.
